They walk the track for many different reasons. They may have survived cancer, they may be coping with cancer, they may know of someone who won or lost their battle.

Whatever the reason, they come together to Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.

The 2009 American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Nobles County is slated for June 19-20, at the Nobles County Fairgrounds in Worthington.

As co-chair of the Daily Globe’s Relay for Life team, and as a member of the county committee, I want to extend an invitation to all who are interested in helping in the fight against cancer.

I Relay because in 2001, my cousin lost his five-year-old daughter Samantha after a nearly two-year battle with neuroblastoma. I Relay because my grandma is a cancer survivor. I Relay because I can.

Monday night is the official kick-off to the 2009 Relay for Life. Please consider joining a team and helping raise money to find a cure. Information about Relay for Life, as well as team packets, will be available at the 7:30 p.m. meeting Monday at the Pizza Ranch in Worthington.
