Crazy People And The Polar Bear Plunge

I just returned from the Okoboji Winter Games and my fingers have finally thawed out – my toes are still a little tingly though.

By the time the Polar Bear Plunge started this afternoon in Smith’s Bay, the thermometer in my car registered a whopping 2 degrees.

Despite the cold (thank goodness there wasn’t much of a windchill) there were still 140 people crazy enough to pay $10 to dive into the frigid waters of Big Spirit Lake.

The money went for a good cause though, and I’ll write more about that in my story for Monday’s print edition and online.

It’s time now to go through all the pictures I snapped to link up a photo gallery with Monday’s story – it will make you cold just looking at them!
